A SANDBACH ambulance crew is to receive a national paramedic award and appear on the BBC1 999 programme after saving the life of a baby girl who fell into a pond.
Nineteen-month-old Cassandra Law, from Holmes Chapel, was rescued from the horrific accident in January by two paramedic teams from Sandbach and Winsford.
Cassandra was taken to Leighton Hospital before being transferred to Alder Hey Hospital in Liverpool, where she was critically ill on a ventilator for two weeks.
She walked out of hospital a month later after making a full recovery.
The heroic team, which consisted of Paul Woodward, Pete Ditcham, Diane Blackhurst and Alan Girling, will be rewarded with the Gardner Award and the incident will be recreated on the BBC1 999 show.
The award is presented annually by the Ambulance Service Institute for the best case submission.
