I UNDERSTAND that Congleton Borough has no intention of replacing the litter bins that have mysteriously disappeared from around Middlewich - along with the dog litter bin that was taken several years ago from the canal entrance.
The reason: The bins cost too much money to keep emptying!
Where is the logic in this? The litter along alleyways and in the hedgerows is increasing daily and it isn't going to go away on its own.
Beer bottles and lager cans are not bio-degradable. They just stay and slowly the town will turn into a slum.
The areas around schools are also badly affected with crisp and sweet wrappers and again there are no bins in sight.
The whole point of the Community Charge was to make local government accountable and to listen to the tax payer.
Congleton Borough Council is selling off land constantly for building projects and has also sold off the council houses. Surely it can afford half a dozen new vandal-proof litter bins!
Why must we residents of Middlewich fight the council for everything? Where are all our Community Charge payments going?
