Lindow 2nds 69

Winsford 2nds 70-0

WINSFORD 2nds maintained their championship aspirations with an easy 10-wicket victory over bottom-of-the-league Lindow.

On a hot summer's day, Lindow won the toss and elected to bat.

This was to prove a disastrous decision as opening bowlers Paul Atherton and Dave Johnson sent their first three batsmen back to the pavilion with only four runs on the board.

Lindow were never to recover from this start, as wickets fell with an alarming regularity.

Only skipper Loynne, with a battling 37, showed any resistance to the Winsford attack.

The visitors managed only to amass a poor 69 all out in 35 overs. The bowling figures were Johnson 4-30, Atherton 2-20, Brodie 2-0 and the evergreen Crofts 1-15.

After tea the Winsford opening batsmen of John Millington and Mark Bosnich set to taking the Lindow bowlers apart, and completed their task without losing a wicket in only 12 overs.

This gave Winsford a valuable 20 points, and sets up a fascinating match on Saturday, when they travel to local rivals Davenham.
