A BALL is to be held to raise awareness of a Winsford special school.
The event, in aid of Hebden Green, will raise funds for much needed equipment as well as bring the school to the attention of the public.
Laura Leader, whose son Mathieu has been attending Hebden Green for two years, has been contacting local companies to help fund the initiative.
She said: "I have been writing and phoning companies, and asking if they want to take a table, or sponsor an event from the ball.
"Some of the companies who have offered help include Rolls-Royce Motor Cars, who sponsored the tickets, and estate agents Meller Braggins, which is providing an auctioneer.
"Also, Winsford company Balloon Buddies are supplying the decorations, and COS Recruitment, Knutsford, are supplying hand made after dinner chocolates."
"The ball is taking place at Grosvenor Hotel, Chester, on September 19, and will have a number of events and activities.
"During dinner there's light jazz music provided by the Gershwin Gang, there is also a raffle and auction, with items such as a signed snooker cue from the Crucible, along with a disco."
"In addition to this there is an exhibition of artwork from Amador in Knutsford, with a percentage of any profits going to Hebden."
She continued: "The school needs a great deal of money to bring its facilities into the 1990s. We want to purchase computer equipment and specialised outdoor equipment like swings for wheel chairs."
She added: "The care, educational support and physical management it gives to its pupils is second to none.
"Very few people know of the excellent work that takes place there and I would like to make them aware."
