GOOD bowling enabled Alsager Cricket Club to overcome a poor batting performance as they beat mid-table Didsbury at the weekend.

Alsager moved up to tenth in the league after winning by six runs.

"It was a pretty poor batting performance from Alsager but from the bowling and fielding point of view it was probably the best of the season," said Alsager skipper Steve Armitage.

Alsager took 22 points to Didsbury's seven and finished the game on 132 all out in 47 overs.

Alsager won the toss and elected to bat with opener Paul Raddage one of the top scorers with 20 and Paul Tibbetts making a knock of 40.

Didsbury needed 133 in 53 overs and Alsager managed to bowl them out for 126 with six wickets for 40 runs over 18 overs taken by West Indian pace bowler Eddie Burnett.

Other wicket takers were Paul Adams, two, Eddie Gilhooly, one, and Ian Ford, one.
