TEENAGERS and young children are hoping for cash help to protect them from traffic hazards on the way to school.
Marlfields Primary and Dane Valley High in Congleton are looking to win funding this year from the Safer Routes to School initiative.
Marlfields wants £8,000 to create a separate access for children and parents, while a further £8,000 could be spent on providing a footpath on Jackson Road to link Dane Valley with Macclesfield Road.
A scheme involving painting "dragons teeth'' markings on the road near Astbury Primary school to improve safety is one of the current projects.
