YOUNG bookworms from Congleton and Alsager are being invited to help fellow book fans from Africa.
Throughout August adults and children can donate books at Congleton and Alsager libraries and others across Cheshire.
The county initiative is part of a national appeal run by London-based organisation Community Heart and aimed at sending children's books to South Africa.
Those donating books are also being asked to give 10p towards the costs of shipping the books out.
"The scheme will bring the joy of reading to thousands of children in South Africa,'' said county council leader Derek Bateman.
"The 10 pence donation on top is unusual but very necessary, as I'm sure people will appreciate.''
