A MAN has been charged with murder following the death of another Runcorn man at the weekend.
Stephen McLoughlin, 30, died from his injuries at Whiston Hospital on Saturday after being assaulted in Runcorn on Friday, July 31.
He had suffered a serious head injury in the attack, which took place in Runcorn High Street at 11.45pm.
Mr McLoughlin, an unmarried man who worked as an electronic engineer, spent a week in Whiston's intensive care unit but never recovered.
Christopher George Henry, of Chorlton Close, Runcorn, appeared before magistrates at Runcorn accused of murdering Mr McLoughlin.
Henry, 31, was remanded in custody to reappear at Runcorn magistrates' court next Monday, August 17.
