I AM a long-standing resident of Penketh and Stocks Lane is right next to me.
It amazes me that certain residents don't want Charlton Homes to build 11 houses on the waste ground to the rear of the car park of the Crown and Cushion pub.
That waste ground is an eyesore to most people. Years ago it was allotments but it is now overgrown and unhealthy with rubbish.
So the building of the houses has been halted because of a handful of residents complaining to Clr G. Warburton about the houses being built there.
Yet the housing development had been granted to Charlton Homes already.
These residents have now stated the loss of wildlife and unacceptable noise if the houses are built, as was indeed planned.
I hope the houses are built and I'm not the only resident who feels likewise.
As for wildlife, only rats breed there as our cats hunt the rats down and bring dead ones home with them.
As for unacceptable noise, the rear doors of the Crown and Cushion pub are nearly always open and the loud bawling of the drinkers and loudspeaker bellowing music out has to be heard to be believed. It's bedlam!
Clr Warburton has also stated the road is dangerous.
All these excuses are so weak!
I'd like houses built on Stocks Lane's fields.
