THE next phase of the Kingsway modernisation programme will start in October after Halton Borough Council accepted a tender by contractors Lockwoods Construction.

The tender for £712,000 is to modernise the next 32 houses on the Kingsway Estate as part of Halton's Housing Strategy to improve properties.

Since the programme began in 1993, 200 council houses in the borough have been modernised.

It is expected that the work on the 32 houses will take approximately eight months. Residents have been informed.
