AN URGENT plea for help was made this week for the meals-on-wheels service.
"We are desperate for drivers and helpers," said Mrs Alma Brown of Runcorn WRVS.
"There must be lots of people out there who could spare us a little of their time. Helping with meals-on-wheels gives people confidence, experience and self-esteem."
Several volunteers have left recently because they have found full-time jobs.
Runcorn WRVS is looking for both men and women who could spare a few hours - once a week, once a fortnight or even just once a month.
"However little time people can spare, we would be very grateful for their help," said Mrs Brown.
Volunteers deliver a staggering 14,000 meals to the elderly, infirm and housebound throughout Runcorn.
The rotas are very flexible as volunteers can swop if they're going away on holiday or have other family commitments.
Anyone who would like to become a volunteer or find out more information, can ring Alma Brown on 01928-577491.
