SECTION Two leaders Grangeway A Team lost only their second league match of the season last Thursday night when they went down 6/3 to Norton Arms, and this has enabled second placed Norton A to draw level on points with the leaders after they comprehensively beat bottom of the table Weston Point SC 8/1.

Third placed Docksiders were able to get within two points of the leaders after a 15 dart game from D Nash helped his team to beat Waterloo 5/4.

Pavilions were able to move ahead of Waterloo into fourth place after they beat next to the bottom Halton Marauders 8/1.

With Section Five leaders Dreadnaughts having an open-date, Union Tavern were able to draw level on points with the leaders after beating Total Confusion 5/4.

Windy Lads were able to move from next to the bottom in the table into third place after they beat a depleted bottom of the table Newcastle 8/1.

Roundhouse B's, T Evans, registered the highest finish of the night of 136 in helping his team to beat Dock Lads 5/4.

There were no positional changes in Section One with victories for the three leading teams.

A 16 dart game from P Murphy helped leaders Albion to beat Jolly Brewer 6/3 whilst for the losers, P Langton and C McFarland, both registered 15 dart games, the latter also finishing on 102.

Second placed Dockside B remain four points adrift of the leaders after beating Wanderers by the odd game whilst in the local derby match Halfway A ran out 6/3 winners against Halfway Gents.

After winning their first six league matches Section Three leaders RNA suffered their third successive defeat when they went down 5/4 to Likely Lads.

Second placed Blarney Stone are now level on points with the leaders after a 17 dart game from P Holmes helped his team to beat Fiddlers III 5/4, although a surprise looked likely at one time when Fiddlers III led 3/1.

A 16 dart game from D Claydon helped Pirates move up to fourth place after they beat Tanners A 7/2.

Undoubtedly the shock result in this section was the 8/1 home defeat of Crofters by bottom of the table Outcasts.

This result lifted Outcasts off the foot of the table making way for Fiddlers III, but also saw Crofters slipping to fifth place.

The lading two teams in Section One, Railway and Beachers, both lost 5/4, leaders Railway going down to fourth placed Draymen and Beachers slipping to third place after losing out to Prospect Has Beens.

This was the third successive victory on the run for the latter and this has enabled them to move ahead of Beachers into second place.

There were no obvious surprises in the second round of the KO Cup played last Friday night but the competition produced some fine individual performances.

Leading the way was Lion Doo Waps, R Booth, who produced a 14 dart game which included a maximum.

Another maximum came from Dockside B's, P Williams, whilst N Unsworth (Draymen) produced a 123 finish and N Hough (Albion) finished in 16 darts..

Pirates and Grangeway A Team both found themselves 3/1 down at one stage against Railway and Roundhouse B respectively but they both rallied to run out 6/3 winners.

Next Friday night, August 28, the third round of the Individual Competition will be staged at the RNA Club when the eight remaining players will compete for the final two places, the draw taking place on the night.
