West Cheshire League Division One
General Chemicals 0 Mersey Royal 2
THIS was a disappointing start to the Chemics league campaign, especially after a fine win against Ashville in midweek.
Chemics could not find their rhythm in a dour first-half, which saw the eager Mersey Royal side take the lead after 30 minutes.
In the second-half Chemics dominated but failed to hit the net, striker, Kev Pearson, heading wide on two occasions and Paul Howard hitting the Royal bar with a spectacular overhead kick.
On the bright side, were excellent performances by centre-back, Robbie Moore and left-midfielder, Paul Howard.
Overall, however, Chemics will want to forget this one and prepare for Christleton away on Wednesday, August 19 and Merseyside Police at home next Saturday, August 22.
Weekly £100 tote winner was T Cox, with No 61.
