ARMED Police descended on a Runcorn street on Monday morning when a gun-toting man imprisoned a woman in her home.
The armed response unit was called to Hitchen's Close in Murdishaw at 8.24am following reports of an on-going domestic incident.
When they arrived at the house, it was discovered that an armed man was inside, refusing to come out. He had a gun.
Officers heard a single shot being fired. A man later gave himself up. No one was injured in the siege.
A man was arrested and found to be carrying a replica gun, loaded with blanks.
He also had a hunting knife and pointed officers towards a loaded crossbow hidden in the nearby woods.
A Liverpool man, 35, appeared before Runcorn Magistrates on Tuesday.
Charges including threats to kill, aggravated burglary, possession of an imitation gun, assault and unlawful imprisonment.
