A SPECIAL rail trip to Scotland will be full steam ahead on Saturday in a fundraising campaign to re-open the Middlewich line for passenger trains.
An all-day 'rail tour' has been organised from local stations to Scotland by Cheshire Railtours.
An Edinburgh Festival Express will take day trippers on a journey of a lifetime over the Salt Line on its way to Scotland, despite there having been no passenger train service over the route for decades.
A raffle will be held on board when it is hoped hundreds of pounds will be raised for the Mid-Cheshire Rail Users Association.
