TWO musicians from Winsford will be taking to the stage with their band Soma at the Top House in Winsford next month.
Danny Carden, of Bollin Avenue, and Leon Bebbington, of Station Road, are trying to attract rock fans who want to see something a bit different to a tribute band.
They want to promote some original music in the town and are urging people in Winsford to come and sample their performance.
Danny said: "We would like to try and get as many people to come to the gig as we can. Everyone is welcome to come along and enjoy the music."
Soma formed in a year ago with the original line-up of Leon Bebbington, bass and vocals; Danny Carden lead guitar; Jim Wakeley drums; and Richard Wakeley rhythm guitar.
They played their first gig in January last year, which was well received, also at that gig they spotted Mark Austin singing in another band, and asked him to join. In February last year the band played their first gig with Mark as their singer.
They have since played a number of gigs in Crewe and Newcastle and have been building up a following based on their energetic live performances and exceptional playing.
The members have a unique approach to their performances with Mark and Leon choosing to perform from the dance floor rather than from the stage.
They play hard rock music, doing a mixture of their own material and some well known cover versions. One of their most popular cover versions is Black Sabbath, which includes behind-the-head guitar solos and all sorts of other madness.
Last time the band performed the song Mark decided to take to the stage wearing nothing but his underpants and a member of the audience was removed from the stage for flashing.
Soma will also be playing at the Top House in Winsford on September 12. For further information about the band and tickets for the gig call Rich or James on (01270) 663515.
