FIONA Crane has been appointed head of legal and administrative services for Vale Royal Borough Council.
After taking a law degree at Leicester Polytechnic, Fiona completed her solicitors' professional examinations at Chester College of Law.
She trained at Cheshire County Council between 1981 and 1983 and after qualifying as a solicitor in 1983, she worked for Wirral Metropolitan Borough Council for nearly three years.
After spending a short spell in private practice, Fiona joined Ellesmere Port and Neston Borough Council in 1987. She studied part-time at Liverpool John Moores University for a Master of Business Administration.
Fiona is aged 38 and is married to a planner who works at Knowsley MBC. They have two children.
