First of all the Priest is mistaken in thinking that the symbol of Christ is concerned only with the Christian religion; it is not. The cross is not Christian - many other religions much older than Christianity had the cross as their symbol.
The men who were inspired to write the Bible thought that the Earth was flat and that the Sun circled the Earth.
If God inspired these men then surely as the creator he would have known this.
They also never banked on the archeologists.
With reference to his remarks about Christ, as a Priest I assume even he knows about the council of Nicaea in 325 AD.
I am a free thinker and I know of its contents.
