A CAREER in teaching could be in the making for Winsford student Emma Sproston after she chalked up one of the best results at Verdin High School sixth form.
The 18-year-old, who lives at Severn Walk, in Wharton was awarded three grade Bs in Maths, French and General Studies and a C in German.
She is now planning to go on to Lancaster University where she will study Maths and French.
Emma said: "I'm really happy with my results and I got into the university I wanted to. When I first visited Lancaster, I knew from the minute I saw it that it was where I wanted to go.
"My course is four years with one year in France where I will hopefully be working as a language assistant.
"I want to be a teacher in the end either at a primary school teaching all subjects or at high school teaching maths."
Rebecca Latham, of Hilltop Avenue, Winsford, was another student at Verdin who had cause for celebration after scooping four A-level passes - at grades C, D and two Es.
One of her future ambitions is to travel around the world but for now she will be going to Salford University to study for a BA Hons degree course in German and English.
Another smiling student was Claire Randall who managed to get a grade A in drama. Claire, of Nun House Drive, is aiming to study the subject as part of a BEd course in Chester.
She also obtained two Es in English and Art.
Claire said: "I'm really pleased with my drama result because I was predicted a grade D.
"This is the first year the school had run the course and everyone passed and so I expect the course will continue now.
"I couldn't have done it without my teacher Miss Julie Bird, she's been brilliant and really supportive throughout the course."
Headteacher Neil Dyment paid tribute to his pupils for their hard work and dedication.
"The A-level students achieved a pass rate of 74 per cent and there were some fine individual performances.
"Of the 24 students who took A-levels many have achieved their required grades for university places and others will be waiting for offers of places through clearing."
