A BURGLAR cut the telephone lines of a house in Knutsford this week.
But the intruder abandoned his break-in attempt in Gloucester Road on Sunday morning - possibly when he realised there were people in the house.
After forcing open a rear ground floor window, the man fled, dropping the only item he took from the house - a saucepan.
Detectives believe the man cut the phone wires to isolate the burglar alarm.
