PROSPECT Has Beens are the new leaders in Section Four after they beat Draymen 7/2. They moved ahead of open-dated Railway on average but Beachers also share top sopt after beating bottom-of-the-table The Legion 6/3.
Grangeway A Team and Norton A are now joint leaders in Section Two. T Ryan led the way for Norton A in his team's 7/2 victory over Halton Marauders when he put in a 12 dart game. Grangeway A Team were given a much more difficult task before finally running out 7/2 winners against Norton Arms.
Bottom-of-the-table Weston Point SC won their second match of the season when they ran out 5/4 away winners against Waterloo.
All teams in this section should note that the Norton Arms has now reopened and remaining home fixtures will be played from there.
Blarney Stone slipped up badly in their quest for the Section Three title when they went down 7/2 to Outcasts. Leaders RNA go two points clear after a 15 dart game from H Biddulph helped them to beat Crofters 7/2.
Likely Lads 6/3 winners against Tanners A and Pirates 8/1 winners against bottom-of-the-table Fiddlers III now find themselves in joint second place.
With second placed Dockside B having an open-date, Section One leaders were able to open up a six point gap at the top after beating Wanderers 8/1. Leading the way for Albion was seasoned campaigner, G Durr, whose 14 dart game included a 107 finish. Jolly Brewer beat Halfway A 7/2 and this match produced a 112 finish from the winners, C Whalley.
At the foot of the table a 127 finish from P Unsworth enabled bottom team Halfway Gents to run out 5/4 winners against Lion Doo Waps.
Union Tavern, second in Section Five, lost 5/4 at home to Windy Lads and are now two points adrift of leaders Dreadnaughts who beat Roundhouse B by the same scoreline. Total Confusion lost 7/2 to Dock Lads.
In the third round of the KO Cup Pirates from Section Three pulled off the surprise result when they beat Section One's Halfway Gents 5/4. Section One giants Dockside B were given a real fright by Section Two's Grangeway A Team when the latter won the first three games. Dockside B, however, pulled themselves together and eventually ran out 6/3 winners.
This Saturday, August 29, is the closing date for registration for the 1998/99 Winter League at the Waterloo Hotel between 7.30pm and 10pm. When registering, trophy holders from the 1997 Summer League must return those trophies. Friday sees the third round of the Individual Competition which will take place at the RNA Club when the eight remaining players in the competition will compete for the final two places. Those taking part are P Ward, J Kilkenny, N Hough, R Chiocchi, G Durr and E Hartigan (all Albion), B O'Connor (Waterloo) and G Littlemore (Pavilions), 8.30pm start. Next Friday night the same stage of the Doubles Competition will take place, this time at the Waterloo Hotel.
