POLICE are hunting two men who carried out an armed robbery at an off-licence.
The robbers targeted Thresher Drinks Cabin on Grangeway last Wednesday night, threatening the staff before escaping in a car with cash they had stolen.
The men, one carrying a machete, entered the off licence at 10pm on Wednesday.
They threatened the two female workers with the blade, forced them into the back of the shop and demanded cash.
When the money was handed over, the two men ran out of the shop and got away in a car thought to have been driven by a third man.
Both women were "terrified" by their ordeal according to police but were uninjured.
The car was described as green Citroen which drove off down Festival Way. It was later found abandoned on Boston Avenue.
Runcorn CID are anxious to talk to anybody who may have witnessed the robbery, or who may have seen the green car and its driver.
The robbers were caught on the shop video camera, and are described as follows.
The machete-wielding man is white, aged 22 and about 5ft 10ins tall.
At the time he was wearing a green, crew-neck pullover, dark gloves.
His accomplice is of similar age. He has swarthy skin, dark hair and stands roughly 5ft 5ins.
He wore a black Nike baseball cap and a black Adidas tracksuit top.
Anybody who can help the police is asked to contact the investigating officers Det Sgt Guy Hindle and Det Con Peter Shaw on 01928 713 456 extension 3933.
