A HEART-stopping moment for a Halton College worker had a happy ending - thanks to colleagues remaining cool under fire.
Nancy Egerton contacted the World to say a relieved thank you to college receptionists Jacqui Matthews and Karen Farrell for helping to save her husband's life in July
Karen phoned an ambulance when she realised that Nancy Egerton's husband Kenneth, who phoned his wife to complain of feeling ill, was, in fact, in the early stages of a heart attack.
Nancy, a cleaner at the college, took up the story: "Kenneth rang from Warrington Road nursery school where he works to tell me he wasn't feeling well.
"When he described the symptoms, they recognised he was having a heart attack and phoned the ambulance. She saved his life," said 63-year-old Nancy.
Kenneth, 64, of Crofton Road, Runcorn, spent three days in intensive care but is now firmly on the road to recovery.
Cynthia Crossley, Nancy's manager at the college, said: "It was just a matter of teamwork. The paramedics said they were grateful for the information Karen gave them. It contributed to saving his life."
