BRAVE youngster Adam French could be meeting up with Mickey Mouse and his friends thanks to generous bike riders.
Adam, aged six, has cystic fibrosis, a condition for which he has to take 50 tablets a day.
Workers at Smurfit Cartons in Congleton were touched by his story, and agreed to donate the proceeds of an annual charity event to the family.
Seven workers and five friends raised £722 with the firm's fifth annual 60-mile cycle ride from Manchester to Blackpool.
Smurfit managing director Pat McNeill made the total up to £850, and presented a cheque to Adam and his mum Andrea at the factory.
The French family, from Beech Road, Congleton, are going to use the money for a holiday for Adam, possibly to Disneyland Paris.
"We used to donate the proceeds of the cycle ride to cancer research, but for the past two years decided to give it to a local good cause,'' said machine setter Mick Hooper, who has taken part in four of the five fund-raisers.
"Adam's mum said he has to take 50 tablets a day for his condition and lots of exercise, but he still seems full of himself.''
The other Smurfit riders who took part in the cycling marathon were Brian Hulme, David Wickstead, Paul Dale, Graham Masters, Mick Petznic and Martin Leake.
