ALBION have finally ended Dockside B's stronghold on the Section One Championship.
The match between the leading two teams in the league last Thursday night resulted in Albion taking the title after running out 5/4 winners, thus ending a run which has seen Dockside B taking seven Section One titles on the run which included both Summer and Winter leagues.
Leading the way for Albion was E Hartigan who finished in 14 darts with S Allan for the losers going one better when finishing in 13.
Jolly Brewer's, S Roberts, produced a 12 dart game which included a 100 finish but his team slipped from third to fourth place after losing out 6/3 to Lion Doo Waps, T Jones hitting a maximum and C Rigby producing a 105 finish for the winners.
Halfway A were able to move ahead of Jolly Brewer into third place after beating Wanderers 5/4.
Grangeway A Team and Norton A continue to race neck and neck for the Section Two Championship.
Grangeway A Team now lead the table by the narrowest of margins after a 16 dart game from K Jones helped his team to beat bottom of the table Weston Point SC 7/2 with Norton A running out 6/3 winners against Waterloo.
Despite trailing fourth placed Pavilions 4/2 at one stage third placed Docksiders hit back to run out 5/4 winners.
Norton Arms also trailed Halton Marauders 4/2 but a shortage of players by the latter contributed to them losing out 5/4 with the winners moving up to fifth place.
Pavilions maintained their two points lead at the top of Section Three when they beat Outcasts by the odd game with second placed Likely Lads keeping their hopes of the title alive after beating bottom of the table Fiddlers III also 5/4.
Pirates skipped from third to fourth place after losing out 6/3 to Blarney Stone, the winners moving up to third.
Crofters were able to move ahead of Outcasts into fifth place after beating Tanners A 6/3.
After taking over at the top of Section Four the previous week Prospect Has Beens consolidated their position when they ran out 7/2 winners against Railway, the losers slipping from second to third place.
Beachers were able to move ahead of Railway when they too had a 7/2 victory, this time at the expence of Grapes Apes.
Draymen in fourth place are now level on points with Railway after they also gained a 7/2 victory when beating bottom of the table the Legion.
Section Five leaders Dreadnaughts lost only their second match of the season when surprisingly going down 5/4 to Total Confusion.
Second placed Union Tavern were unable to take advantage of this slip-up by the leaders for they also lost 5/4 this time to Dock Lads with a 116 finish from the winners K Houghton helping his team to move up to third place.
Bottom of the table Newcastle are still searching for their first points of the season after losing to Roundhouse B by the odd game.
This seasons Individual Competition Final will be contested by Albion team-mates Roy Chiocchi and Geoff Durr.
At the RNA Club last Friday night the final eight players in the competition competed for the final two places.
The first quarter-final saw reigning champion Nick Hough beat Albion team-mate John Kilkenny 2/1 finishing both legs in 17 darts.
The next quarter-final resulted in Roy Chiocchi beating Graham Littlemore (Pavilions) 2/0 this being followed by a 2/0 victory for Albion's, Paul Wood, against team-mate Eamonn Hartigan.
The remaining quarter-final resulted in a 2/1 win for Geoff Durr against Barry O'Connor (Waterloo).
In the first semi-final Roy ran out a 2/0 winner against Nick with legs of 17 and 18 darts.
In a tense second semi-final Geoff beat Paul 2/1 winning the deciding leg in 18 darts which included a 111 finish.
Friday night sees the third round of the Doubles Competition to be staged at the Waterloo Hotel.
