A MAN was killed in a freak accident on the M56 near to Clifton interchange in Runcorn on Friday night.
Stuart David Madden, 36, was parked on the hard shoulder by the motorway's east bound carriage when the accident happened.
He got out of his yellow BMW coupe and was hit by a heavy goods vehicle at 11.35pm.
The victim, a self-employed man who lived just outside Chester, is believed to have pulled up following a shunt between his car and another. He died of multiple injuries.
The driver of the 7.5 tonne truck, a 50-year-old Welsh man, was shocked but uninjured.
A female passenger in the BMW also escaped without injury.
