ALSAGER'S bowlers turned on the style on Saturday as they earned a fabulous victory at champions and league leaders Bowden.
Alsager's heads were down after they were bowled out for 110, but their bowlers fought back to demolish their top of the table opponents for just 73 runs.
The bowlers did it again on Bank Holiday Monday, when they dismissed Birkenhead Park for 113 to follow up their opening innings of 148.
Alsager earned 20 and 23 points respectively from the victories to lift them two places in the table to ninth.
Alsager made a terrible start against Bowden, openers Paul Radage and Mark Slater out in the first over.
They were 40 for three after the dismissal of Paul Pickford, who top scored with 27, and the wickets tumbled regularly.
However the Alsager bowlers were in sparkling form, in particular Guyanan Eddie Burnett, who took four for 37.
He was well supported by two for nought in two overs from Eddie Gilhooly, two for 12 for Dominic Bull and one for nine for Paul Tibbetts.
Tibbetts top scored for Alsager with 62 in Monday's home match, ahead of 19 for Steve Vyse, 16 from Steve Armitage and 15 by Pickford.
Alsager struggled after another bad start, being reduced to 15 for two.
But Burnett was again on target, equalling his season's best with six for 32, to make him the league's leading bowler with 68 wickets.
Gilhooly took two for 53, and there was a wicket for Bull.
"It was a fabulous win against Bowden, and the bowlers did us proud,'' said Alsager captain Steve Armitage.
