CRAIG Murphy scored a superb double on Saturday to earn Congleton Town an excellent 3-1 home win over Farsley Celtic.
Ray Birch put the Bears ahead on 13 minutes with a header from close in after connecting with a long throw from Steve Rothwell.
Farsley drew level in the 25th minute from a free kick 22 yards out which flew through the wall and past an unsighted Mark Winstanley.
However Murphy put Congleton back in the lead 10 minutes later when he beat four players before firing home.
He scored his second five minutes before the break when he beat a player and cracked the ball into the roof of the net.
The Bears followed the win with a 1-1 draw at home to Witton Albion on Bank Holiday Monday.
Congleton took the lead on 25 minutes after good build-up play by Craig Warrington and Murphy.
The ball was fed through to Graham Dodd, who, with his back to goal, turned and fired the ball home from 22 yards out.
Witton equalised in the 68th minute from the penalty spot after Winstanley was judged to have brought a player down in the box in a one-on-one.
Winstanley produced two outstanding second half saves, and Murphy was denied from a free kick.
