POPULAR country pub the Swettenham Arms has won an award for promoting a local brewery.
The pub scooped a Pub of the Season award from a revamped local branch of the Campaign for Real Ale.
The Macclesfield and East Cheshire branch of CAMRA, which includes Congleton, gave the award to the Swettenham Arms for carrying Beartown Bitter as one of its real ales.
"The Beartown brewery is based in Congleton, and we had been encouraging the Swettenham Arms to take its bitter,'' said committee member Jeremy Nuttall, from Johnson Close, Congleton.
"The local branch has 200 members, a third of which come from Congleton, and we have rethought our programme of events to get more people involved."
