ALLOTMENT holders in Nantwich look set to be given an extra seven months notice to quit from their Nixons Row site.
The gardeners were originally told in April they had a year's notice before the land would be taken and used as part of a housing development.
The land has been earmarked by Linden Homes as a development for new houses and the firm already has planning permission.
In June the allotment holders won a partial reprieve when the environmental services committee recommended suspending the notice to quit for consultation with the owners.
Allotment holders were pleased with the news but vowed to fight on as they did not know how long the suspension would be for.
A panel was set up to consider the notices and to address the concerns of holders.
It resolved that the period of notice would be extended to November, soil analysis should be carried out from the replacement land and to discuss with the developers the possibility of altering the boundary.
This week the committee is due to discuss the allotments again and officers have recommended the notice to quit should be served again to end in November.
The results of a soil analysis are due back in the next few weeks and the committee is set to hold a meeting with allotment holders to discuss all the issues.
Discussions are also ongoing with the developer to discuss how practical changes to the site would be made.
