FOLLOWING damage to my wife's car, I wrote to Vale Royal Borough Council in May this year about the appalling condition of the road surfaces in the Moors Lane and Hall Lane areas of Winsford and submitted a claim for repair to my wife's car.

To date, nothing has been done about the potholes in these roads (with the exception of the one that actually caused the damage) and the council's insurers have failed to accept responsibility on the council's behalf for the damage.

This is just one case where the roads within Vale Royal are not being adequately maintained by the council.

When driving down Swanlow Lane - the main road between Winsford and Crewe - one has to weave one's way between the potholes.

The quality of the roads in Vale Royal is rapidly deteriorating into that of a Third World Country.

How many more cars have to be damaged at the owners' expense before the council will do anything to improve the roads?

With the swingeing increase in council tax imposed this year this should not be allowed to continue.
