IT was double trouble for Nicola Cork last Thursday when GCSE results were announced.

For it was the second time the 21-year-old had to suffer from nerves and anxiety as she opening the dreaded envelope.

Nicola, of Beechfield Drive, Middlewich, first sat her GCSEs when she was 16 but decided to have a go at another few this school year.

And the champagne corks were popping when she opened her results, obtained at Mid-Cheshire College, to find she had achieved a grade A in English, a B in psychology, C in maths and C in sociology.

Nicola said: "I am absolutely over the moon. I needed to do my GCSEs as a refresher because I plan to do A-levels next year and they helped me to get back into study.

"I did not do very well when I first sat my GCSEs - I got three Cs, Ds, Es and Fs. So I decided to take them again.

"I want to get qualifications so that I can get a job in the media , a music journalist or something like that."

Nicola has only recently moved to Middlewich from Kent after her boyfriend Jonathan Skelton was promoted.

She explained: "When I left school in Kent, I went to college to do a diploma in business and finance.

"I worked in a garden centre with my boyfriend who got promoted to Tarporley and so we moved here.

"I stopped working and started college full-time whilst working at Dillons newsagent in Middlewich part-time to earn some extra money.

"It's fabulous in Middlewich, much quieter than where I used to live, but a nice change."

Now Nicola plans to go back to Mid-Cheshire College in September to study for four A-levels in IT, sociology, psychology and law.
