MORE than 12,000 homes in Winsford are to receive wheeled bins for their household rubbish during the next few weeks.

Wheeled bins will be delivered to more than 5,000 households in Wharton, Gravel and the High Street area of Winsford starting on Monday, September 7.

The first collections of refuse from the wheeled bins will start on the week beginning Monday, September 21.

Another 7,000 homes in Winsford, Townfields, Over and Salterswall will receive a leaflet explaining the wheeled bin scheme from September 12.

There will be exhibitions on September 28 at the Civic Hall car park, and on September 29 at the Cheviot Square Housing Office car park for residents to see the bins and make any enquiries.

The wheeled bins will be delivered to households involved in the week beginning Monday, October 5. The first collections from them will be on October 19.

The green wheeled bins have a capacity of 240 litres and provide a faster and more efficient refuse service.

They increase safety and hygiene and are animal resistant as well as keeping smells in and flies out.

The introduction of wheeled bins also saves on the wasteful use of plastic sacks.

Labels will be attached to bins giving information on when to start using them and when to put them out for collection.

When the wheeled bins are in operation in Winsford, it will mean that 38,000 homes in the borough will have changed from plastic bag collections.

The remaining 10,000 properties in rural areas of the borough, including Kingsley, Whitley, Norley and Acton Bridge, will have wheeled bins introduced during future schemes.

Anyone requiring more information on the scheme should telephone the free wheeled bin helpline on 0800 435199.
