Woolston Rovers 27
West Hull 22
WOOLSTON overcame West Hull in an enthralling clash in BARLA's National Conference League.
West Hull kept in touch with Woolston throughout but Adam Jude created the match winning try for Karl Taylor and super kicker Steve Martin made sure with a penalty goal from half way late on.
The visitors took a 6-0 lead but Woolston's fight back was inspired by a 50metres Mark Wallington run which led to a try for debut player Graham Muckalt, a new signing from Chester.
A drop goal from Wallington and a second 40 yard penalty from Martin nudged Rovers further ahead.
In the second period man of the match winger Dave Lomax crossed in the corner. Martin's extras put Rovers in command at 17-6.
While Martin was in the sin bin West Hull touched down to reduce the deficit to five points. Then Wallington banged over a long range penalty.
West Hull crossed for another try but the try of the game from Taylor then effectively sealed the win. Martin converted.
Although West Hull crossed again Martin's mammoth penalty from the half way line sealed it.
