Lymm 21
Kirby Lonsdale 15
LYMM Rugby Union club limbered up for their difficult start to the league programme with a successful friendly against Kirby Lonsdale.
With successive away trips ahead against Driffield tomorrow, Saturday and Blackburn the following week, the side will be looking to dominate possession as they did early on against Kirby.
Two tries by Mark Sutton, both converted by man of the match Nick Kennedy, saw them canter to a half-time lead but it proved harder going after the break.
The visitors forced their way into a 15-14 lead until an injury time try by Martin Bower snatched a win for Lymm.
Pre-season training has gone well under new coach, ex-Welsh Rugby Union and Rugby League star Steve Rule and new acquisitions Kiwi flanker Paul Taylor and ex-Warrington Mark Sutton have added strength to the pack.
Brian Parsons, ex-Kersal pros, will be also eligible to play when available from Oxford University.
