A GANG of youths attacked a man and his partner as they walked through a Warrington estate on Monday.
The group of six to eight thugs targeted the 29-year-old man and his common-law wife as they walked in Concord Place, Orford, at about 9.30pm.
The gang attacked the man, beating him to the floor before repeatedly stamping and kicking him.
He suffered facial and head injuries as well as a broken leg in what police described as a vicious and unprovoked assault.
The man needed hospital treatment for his injuries. His partner also suffered minor injuries in the violent assault.
Detective Sergeant Liam Smythe said: "This was an extremely nasty and vicious assault that was seemingly unprovoked."
Detectives are appealing for any witnesses.
