General Chemicals 1 Blacon 2
THE return of manager Jimmy Williams saw a more determined performance from a strong Chemics side but, sadly, a failure to convert chances cost them dear.
Blacon made the best of their only two first half chances to go into a 2-0 interval lead.
All three substitutes were then introduced and Chemics, who had already hit the bar through Mark Savage, created chance after chance.
Terry Noon fired over perfect crosses which, unfortunately, nobody capitalised on.
Kevin Pearson hit the post, Mick Quigley blazed over the bar and others missed scoring chances.
Mick Hill, however, did give them some hope after he lobbed the ball from his own half to beat the Blacon keeper.
Williams will be introducing six new players to his squad in attempts to get the winning streak back.
Poulton Victoria 4 General Chemicals 1
A STRONG squad still could not help Chemics from another defeat.
Fitness was the problem as Poulton Vics coped better with the blistering sunshine than the Runcorn outfit.
Vics scored first but Chemics replied through Dexter Reese, his pace leaving the Vic's defence flatfooted.
Dexter is a St Lucia international and has signed for Chemics pending clearance to play for Runcorn.
He, together with Terry Noon, were the only bright spots of a poor display. Vics scored three times to easily win the game.
