TAKE your four-legged friend for a walk at a Halton beauty spot and help raise money for charity!

That's the invitation to animal lovers this week from Halton Council.

Their dog warden service is supporting the Great British Pet Walk, which aims to encourage 50,000 pet owners throughout the UK to join in.

Everyone who takes part will receive a free poop scoop, route planner and free entry to a prize draw.

The one-mile signposted walks are being held from 10am to 3pm on Saturday, September 19 at Town Park, Stockham Lane, Runcorn and on Sunday, September 20 from Pickerings Pasture, Mersey View Road, Widnes.

To join a walk, just turn up at the visitors' centre on the day and report to the dog warden.

Sponsorship forms are available from Runcorn Town Hall, Runcorn information centre, municipal building, Ditton housing office, libraries or the visitors centres at Pickerings Pasture, Town Park or Spike Island.

Walkers are reminded to dress appropriately for the weather and to keep control of their pets at all times.
