A RUNCORN man is in a serious condition in hospital following a traffic accident on the A533 near the Heath Road slip on Tuesday morning.
The roads were closed for hours as police investigated the accident which happened when an Escort-type van crossed the central reservation and collided with an on-coming Ford Mondeo shortly after 11am.
The driver of the van was taken to Warrington Hospital with serious injuries. No further details on the injured man were available as The World went to press.
The driver of the other vehicle, a Widnes man, was left shocked but uninjured by the crash.
The road was reopened later in the afternoon.
