I WAS pleased to read that Cheshire Police have extended their scheme for careless drivers, which has been in operation in Winsford and Middlewich for the past year, throughout the entire county.
With so many bad drivers on the roads, the likes of which we come across every day, it makes sense to rehabilitate motorists who disregard the highway code and the fact that they must pay for these courses themselves is some form of punishment.
The scheme, in my view, is a good response to the inadequacies of the old National Driving Test which demanded less than basic knowledge of the highway code. With new additions to the driving tests in recent years, perhaps the next generation of drivers will be more competent than our own.
Careful driver.
