STAN Frith was the only one of three Mid Cheshire bowlers to qualify from Sunday's Tetley Open matches at Lostock SC.
Owley Wood's Stan Frith defeated Warrington's Kevin Wainwright 21-18 and Stoke's Kerry Morris 21-13 to join the other three qualifiers from the day's matches.
Winsford's pairing of Glynn Cookson and Ron Lightfoot were less successful though, both bowlers falling in their opening matches. Cookson was beaten 21-19 by eventual qualifer, Kevan Shaw. Whilst Ron lost out to Warrington's John Gatley 21-19.
This Sunday's qualifier sees another three Mid Cheshire bowlers amongst the 16. They are Dave Haspell, Tim Shaw and Mark Cookson.
THE Norley League side pulled off a thrilling win over Stockport in the Inter League Championship last week. They won the match 273-264.
They won the home leg at Winsford Cons 154-140, with Gerald Merry clinching victory in the final block. The away score was 119-124.
