TWO Middlewich tenants of Dane Housing could soon be chosen to fill vacancies for tenant members on the board of the company.
The private organisation, which has taken over more than 4,000 homes previously owned by Congleton Borough Council, is to appoint two tenants.
They will be playing an active role in helping the company continue its aims to provide affordable first-class homes in the borough of Congleton.
Anne Ward, chief executive, explained: "Our 15-strong board is made up of tenants, local authority representatives and professional and business people.
"Recent vacancies have now created an opportunity for two new tenants to join us.
"It's a challenging and worthwhile role and we value the knowledge that existing tenants can offer to help us deliver an excellent service to our customers.
"We are already fulfilling our promises to carry out the first year's £5.7 million programme of repairs and maintenance and implementing the first phase of a new building which will involve 250 new homes over the next five years.
"Our board members will play a vital part in our plans for the future."
Members of the board are expected to attend some 10 meetings a year. These are usually held in the evening at the company's offices in Congleton and although the posts are unpaid, legitimate expenses are reimbursed.
Mrs. Ward added: "If you have lots of energy and ideas and feel that you can make a positive difference for tenants, then we want to hear from you."
More information and an application pack can be obtained by ringing 01260 281037 or by writing to Dane Housing (Congleton) Ltd, Market Square Offices, Congleton, Cheshire.
The closing date for applications is September 25.
