VOLUNTEERS are being sought in Congleton to help speak up on behalf of people with learning difficulties.
Independent Advocacy is a voluntary group aiming to bring people together.
As part of its local recruitment drive it is putting on a display about its work at Congleton Library until September 21.
"We are currently looking for volunteer advocates in the Congleton area,'' said a spokesman.
"You don't need special training or knowledge, just a wish to be there for one person and speak up on their behalf. We call this citizen advocacy, and we think it's one of the most worthwhile things you'll ever do.
"For some people with learning difficulties the only person they meet are paid to care for them. Their physical needs may be well met, but we all know how important our friends are.''
