WIDNES ALBERT'S first game at their new home ground of Wade Deacon School ended in disappointment when they went down to a strong Ulverston side.
The first try came the way of Ulverston who then followed it up - albeit with the help of a suspiciously forward pass - to make it 10-0
The Albert stormed back and Andy Horabin received a pass to go over for a try.
The Albert went straight back on the attack and moved the ball superbly across the line for Mark Ryan to put Ian Abram over in the corner.
After getting back into the game, the Albert let it slip on the stroke of half-time conceding a converted try to go in at half-time 16-10 down.
An early second-half try to the Albert reduced the arrears to just two points and, despite both sides having tries disallowed, it stayed this way until the 65th minute when the Ulverston prop stretched out to score under the posts for a converted try.
The Cumbrians had their tales up and, in a disastrous five minute spell for the Albert, they scored two further tries to build up a 32-14 lead.
To their credit the Albert kept plugging away and got their reward when Andy Eyres went over for a try.
There were good performances for the Albert by Matty Platt and Neil Horabin in the backs and Mark Ryan and Peter Rylands in the forwards.
The Albert this week make the trip to Wigan where Spring View provide the opposition in a 2.30pm kick-off.
All players are asked to meet at the Albert for 12.45pm.rformances for
