Liverpool 5
Eagle RUFC 47
EAGLE Rugby Union Club started the season with a bang in a warm up game at Liverpool Collegiate.
Eagle's pack dominated throughout with tries from Graham, two, Clutterbuck, two, Simmons, Burrows and Lee, with Myers adding six conversions.
Wilcock and Burrows impressed making their first appearances for Eagle, while Rhodes was outstanding in making a welcome return after a long lay off.
Eagle seconds continued their amazing run in 1998 by beating a lively Collegiate side 44-16.
The visitors got off to a very good start making the most of two early penalty attempts.
The Eagle pack soon dominated which resulted in some excellent back line inter play resulting in tries for Hunt, Scott, Braithwaite, Turney, Evans, Preston and Unsworth. Best for Eagle were Hunt and Scott.
Eagle thirds fought hard against a strong Wigan outfit with some dogged defence but went down 15-29.
The Cook, Lasko half back partnership produced an early score with Lasko going over. Eagle finished the first half 10-5 down but with tries from Graham and Jenkinson, the game was always in the balance.
However, Wigan made the most of their penalty kicks and conversions. Best for Eagle were Chadburn and Greener.
