Crosfields 28
York Acorn 20
CROSFIELDS had to wait until the dying moments to pull off a win against a York Acorn outfit reduced to 11 men.
Crosfields also had winger Ian Hannon dismissed in a tough physical encounter.
After solid defence by both sides, the deadlock was broken by loose forward John Bannon who finished off a good run by his brother Eddie.
Ian Hannon scored Crosfield's second try a minute before half time but straight after the break York got back in the game through Darren Callaghan, who also converted.
Hannon scored his second try but was then sent off along with York's Alan Hebblethwaite for fighting on the hour.
A great run by Crosfields centre Jamie Stenhouse was well backed up by Doug Johnson to cross near the posts and York full back Embleton was sent off for a late tackle on Johnson as he scored. Jay Kiernan converted for a 18-8 scoreline.
Despite being man down, York hit back with tries from pressed Mick Colley and Marshall for an unlikely 18-20 lead.
However, in the last minute of normal time, Johnson forced his way over in the corner.
Injury time saw centre Jamie Stenhouse grab another and Kiernan converted to complete the scoring.
Stand off Eddie Bannon was Crosfields man of the match.
In the forwards John Bannon and Matt Mahoney had outstanding games.
