TWO nurses were swept off their feet by celebrity Dale Winton after appearing on a daytime television show.
Shirley Wildgoose, of Fairfield Avenue, Golborne, and Jill Kenyon, of Springfield Avenue, Padgate, took part in the Carlton Television programme Supermarket Sweep.
Jill and Shirley work together on the Special Care Baby Unit at Warrington Hospital.
It is the first time either of the women has appeared on television, but both are keen to try other game shows.
"It was a really good day," said Shirley. "Dale was very nice, friendly and sincere and he's got lovely eyes!"
But both women say standing in front of the cameras was nerve wracking.
"It was quite frightening," said Jill, "but you did forget they were there after a while."
The women's career on the small screen is unlikely to stop there.
They have been offered the chance to star with another of television's camp comedians, Blankety Blank's Lily Savage.
Sadly, the nurses only came second in Supermarket Sweep, but they say that if they had won they would have given the £2,000 prize money to SCBU.
The programme will be screened this autumn.
