THE Rotary Club of Warrington has written to its Omagh counterparts to express sympathy to the town devastated by the terrorist bombing three weeks ago.
In a letter to the Rotary Club of Omagh, Andrew Gilbert, president of Warrington Rotarians, spoke of how the people of Warrington have worked to get over their own tragedy.
"As a town," he said, "Warrington has also suffered first-hand the awful experience of such an event five years ago.
"We share the pain your community is feeling at this time through the sudden and tragic loss of relatives, friends and fellow citizens.
"The loss of two of our children has left a lasting legacy on the town - not only the River of Life memorial feature in the town centre, but also a spirit to strive for a lasting peace.
"One of our members, Colin Parry, father of Tim, has been working tirelessly with his wife Wendy to set up an International Peace Centre here in Warrington. Through the Tim Parry Jonathan Ball Trust, the aim has been to raise sufficient funds to build a centre which will commemorate the lives of the children and provide a venue for people of all religious and political backgrounds to work and stay together in an atmosphere of tolerance and understanding. In such a troubled world, never was such a centre more needed as now."
