ONE of Warrington's oldest residents has died at the grand old age of 100.
Florence Cleveland, of Goulden Street, lived all her life in the town and was a source of history for her many nephews and nieces.
Her niece Joan Davies said: "She knew everything about Warrington and could always tell you a tale or two about the olden days."
Her first job at 14 years old was as a scullery maid at Bewsey Old Hall.
"There have been so many ghost stories about the place but Auntie Flo always used to say there were no ghosts when she was there!"
She went on to work in an armaments factory during the First World War and lost three fingers in a horrific accident. "Her screams could be heard for miles around," said Joan.
Auntie Flo, as she was affectionately known, was widowed 30 years ago but always had time for a friendly word with friends and family.
Joan said: "She was a lovely understanding woman. She was great with young people and would always listen to your problems. Everyone who knew her thought the world of her.
"When we were children we loved going round to her house. She would give us lots of love, a cuddle and half a crown."
