JOHN Price added his impressive list of successes at Widnes Golf Club on Saturday by capturing the Monthly Medal trophy following a superb round in difficult conditions.
Playing off five, Price went round in one-over-par 70, the best gross of the day by five strokes who took the consolation prize in that department.
Price's overall victory was by a much slenderer margin on a better back nine from Bill Thompson snr who shot 78-13=65.
Ken Hill used his generous handicap off 22 to claim third place with the best of three 66s ahead of Keith Musgrave and John Ratcliffe.
Musgrave was compensated for the near miss when he teamed up with his George Cox in the annual benefit tournament for the club's highly regarded professional Jason O'Brien on Sunday. They accumulated 42 stableford points from their fourball better ball, the same as Bob and Mark Fraser who had an inferior back nine.
